Lil Xan is finally getting clean and sober.

The "Betrayed" rapper took to Instagram on Thursday (November 15) to let his fans know that he's decided to step away for a bit to deal with his struggles with addiction. "I just dropped out of SoundCloud Uni to go to rehab,🎉 I leave in like 5 days And I couldn’t be happier with this choice 💔," he captioned a photo of him smoking. "I love you guys for being so supportive and can’t wait too get back clean headed ready to Finish my album !"

The decision came just a few months after Xan admitted that he was struggling with substance abuse. "I want to be clean and sober, but that sh*t is hard," he said just days after the death of his "hero" Mac Miller. "I want to get sober now, completely sober, but it's so hard. I just want to be off everything. I want to be like a normal person.... if I didn't have a tour coming up I would be in rehab right now... I'm down for any type of help."

Earlier this month, Xan canceled a bunch of shows because he felt "burnt out" after working so hard on his Mac Miller tribute album. Xan axed five upcoming concerts to recharge after hours in the studio recording Be Safe. He was reportedly "working nonstop" on the project that he announced last month would be dedicated to the late 26-year-old rapper, who was found dead on September 7 after an accidental overdose.

Last month, the 22-year-old rapper revealed the artwork for his Mac-inspired album. "'BE SAFE' FULL ARTWORK 💔 909 to the 412 ! This Album is for everyone and anyone you lost in life 💔," Xan captioned a photo of the album's artwork, which is a drawing of Mac holding an engraved tombstone. "AND ALSO BE SAFE IS FINALLY COMPLETED,I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE HAPPY AND FELT THIS GOOD ABOUT AN LP 💔 DEC 3RD."

The album title also holds a special meaning to Xan, as "be safe" were the last words Mac told him before his untimely passing.
